HBV is a most common causes of liver cirrhosis and HCC. Curing persons with HBV infection remains elusive, despite the availablility of effective antiviral therapy. However, the urgency for an HBV cure remains an active area of research. This program will discuss key research advances in the strategies to HBV cure, pros and cons of withdrawal of therapy, and novel antiviral/immunomodulatory therapies.

The national strategy for the elimination of HCV in the United States calls for a 90% reduction in the incidence of HCV and having 90% of those with HCV being treated. Scaling up HCV treatment in persons who inject drugs (PWIDs) and persons who are incarcerated is necessary to achieve HCV elimination targets.

These interview-based podcasts will focus on the patient's life experience with HCV infection, including diagnosis, interactions with healthcare providers, top treatment concerns, and how life changed since being cured. The series will also discuss approaches to improve HCV outcomes based on lessons learned from these patient perspectives.

NAFLD and resulting NASH are highly prevalent globally and in the United States, where they are a growing cause of cirrhosis, HCC, and increasingly an indicator for liver transplantation. The total burden of disease due to NASH will likely rise for the next 15 years.

These educational Clinical Clips will spotlight the latest and most relevant clinical data in the advances in the treatment and management of non‐alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) with a series of ‘what you need to know’ videos from data presented at the virtual International Liver Congress from June 23‐26.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a growing cause of cirrhosis, HCC, and liver transplantation. Treatment options for NASH remain limited. Management of NASH typically focuses on treating liver disease and associated metabolic comorbidities. However, no single treatment approach has proved universally applicable to the general population with NASH. Given the biologic complexity of NASH and its heterogeneity, it is unlikely that only one drug will be sufficient to treat all patients.

These educational Conversations in NASH will discuss the current and future burden of disease due to NASH, the potential noninvasive testing modalities for diagnosis and staging of disease, important management considerations, and the latest clinical data for the treatment of NASH.

Chronic HCV infection affects over 3 million Americans and is a leading cause of liver failure, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. There are an increasing number of young patients and patients with milder disease than described in previous years. Understanding nuances of HCV disease in different patient populations require clinicians to become continually educated on the safe and appropriate use of direct-acting antiviral agents in clinical practice. These slides use a case-based format to discuss the contemporary management of HCV infection before and after the cure in treatment-naïve and experienced patients with various comorbidities.
